After creating a funding close, you can adjust which investments are included before settling. This gives you control over exactly which investments are settled together.
Adding Investments
You can add funded investments to an active funding close that aren't currently assigned to any close. This is useful when:
- New investments become funded after the close was created
- An investment was previously removed and needs to be re-added
- You're consolidating investments from a cancelled close
To add an investment, it must be:
- Funded -- only funded investments can be in a funding close
- Unassigned -- not already part of another active or settled close
- In the same SPV -- the investment must belong to the same SPV as the funding close
Removing Investments
You can remove investments from an active funding close before settlement. Removed investments go back to the "unassigned" pool and can be included in a future close. Reasons to remove:
- The investment has a pending issue that needs resolution (e.g. a short payment that needs adjusting)
- The investor has requested changes to their investment
- You want to defer certain investments to a later close
What You Cannot Change
- Settled closes are locked -- once a funding close is settled, you cannot add or remove investments. The membership is final.
- Cancelled close investments are automatically unassigned -- see Cancelling a Funding Close.
Best Practices
- Review membership after creation -- the auto-assignment adds all funded, unassigned investments. Make sure every investment in the close is ready for settlement.
- Resolve issues first -- if any investments have wire fee shortfalls, pending adjustments, or other issues, resolve them before settling. Remove them from the close if they need more time.
- Check investment amounts -- verify that all amounts are correct and any necessary adjustments have been made.
- Don't leave stale closes -- if you've created a close but aren't ready to settle yet, that's fine. But don't leave an active close sitting for too long, as new funded investments will need a close to be assigned to.
What Admins Should Know
- You have full control -- the auto-assignment is a convenience, not a constraint. You can remove any investment or add others as needed.
- One active close per SPV -- remember that only one close can be active at a time. If you need to reorganize, settle or cancel the current close first.
- Removed investments aren't cancelled -- removing an investment from a close just unassigns it. The investment itself is unchanged and will be available for the next close.
