Deal visibility is controlled by three settings that work together: publishing, sharing, and invite-only mode. Understanding how these interact is important for controlling who can see and access a deal.

The Three Visibility Controls

Publishing

Publishing controls whether a deal is visible on the platform at all.

  • Unpublished -- the deal is only visible to admins in the admin panel. Investors cannot see it.
  • Published -- the deal is visible to investors (subject to the other visibility settings below).

Admins toggle publishing using the Publish / Unpublish button on the deal's admin page. When a deal is published, a timestamp is recorded. When unpublished, the timestamp is cleared.

Invite-Only Mode

This setting controls which investors can see a published deal.

  • Invite Only = Yes -- only investors who have been specifically invited (connected to the deal) can see it. Other investors will not find it in their deal listings.
  • Invite Only = No -- all investors on the platform can see the deal (it appears in everyone's deal listings).

Public Sharing

This setting controls whether the deal has a shareable public link.

  • Sharing Enabled -- a public URL is generated that anyone can view, even without a Play Money account. This is useful for marketing the deal externally.
  • Sharing Disabled -- no public link exists. The deal is only accessible to logged-in investors (subject to invite-only settings).

Admins toggle sharing using the Enable/Disable Sharing button on the deal's admin page.

Visibility Matrix

Here's how the three settings combine:

Published?Invite Only?Sharing?Who Can See It
No----Admins only
YesYesNoOnly invited investors (logged in)
YesYesYesInvited investors + anyone with the public link
YesNoNoAll logged-in investors
YesNoYesAll logged-in investors + anyone with the public link

Community Access

Deals can also be associated with communities. When a deal is linked to one or more communities, members of those communities automatically have access to the deal. This is a way to target deals to specific investor groups without individually inviting each person.

What Admins Should Know

  • Publishing is the master switch -- nothing else matters if the deal isn't published.
  • Invite-only is for exclusive deals -- use it when the deal should only be visible to a curated list of investors or specific communities.
  • Public sharing creates a link anyone can view -- useful for deal promotion, but be aware that non-accredited viewers can see the deal page (they still can't invest without an account and accreditation).
  • Connected People -- individual investors can be connected to a deal through the admin panel, giving them access regardless of invite-only settings.
