Cancelling a funding close removes the batch grouping without affecting the underlying investments. The investments are "unassigned" back to the available pool and can be included in a future funding close.

When to Cancel

Cancelling a funding close dissolves the batch grouping. The investments themselves are untouched -- they return to the unassigned pool and can be included in a future close. Common reasons:

  • Not ready to settle -- you created the close but conditions changed and settlement isn't appropriate right now
  • Need to reorganize -- you want to restructure which investments are grouped together
  • Issues discovered -- after reviewing the close, you found problems (missing payments, incorrect amounts) that require a different approach
  • SPV being cancelled -- when an SPV is cancelled, its active funding closes are automatically cancelled too

What Happens During Cancellation

When a funding close is cancelled:

  1. Status updates to "cancelled" -- the close moves from "active" to "cancelled."
  2. Investments are unassigned -- all investments that were part of this close have their funding close assignment removed. They return to the "unassigned" pool.
  3. Ops notification -- the operations team receives a notification about the cancellation.
  4. Close number is preserved -- the close number (e.g. Close #3) is not reused. The next close gets the next number.

What Doesn't Happen

  • Investments are NOT cancelled -- the investments themselves are untouched. They keep their current status (funded, committed, etc.).
  • Payments are NOT affected -- any completed or in-progress payments continue normally.
  • Investors are NOT notified -- cancelling a close is an internal administrative action. Investors don't see it.

After Cancellation

  • Investments are available for the next close -- unassigned funded investments will be auto-assigned when a new funding close is created.
  • You can create a new close -- since the active close is now cancelled, you can create a new one for the SPV.
  • The cancelled close is preserved for records -- it still appears in the admin panel for historical reference, but it can't be reactivated.

What Admins Should Know

  • Cancellation is safe -- it doesn't affect investments or payments. It just dissolves the grouping.
  • Only active closes can be cancelled -- you can't cancel an already-settled close.
  • Use it to reset -- if you made a close prematurely or the situation changed, cancelling and recreating is the standard approach.
  • Auto-cancellation when SPV is cancelled -- if the SPV itself is cancelled, you don't need to manually cancel its funding closes. The system handles it automatically.
